The ACHP's 24 statutorily designated members, including the chairman who heads the agency, address policy issues, direct program initiatives, and make recommendations regarding historic preservation to the President, Congress, and heads of other federal agencies. Members meet several times per year to conduct business. ACHP members are from various federal agencies, local and state government, the public, and historic preservation organizations.

Travis Voyles joined the Trump Administration in January 2025 and serves as the Assistant Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He most recently served in the cabinet of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin as the Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources, where he advised the governor on natural resources and energy issues and oversaw five state agencies that protect and restore Virginia's natural and historic resources.
