Senate Confirms Sara C. Bronin as ACHP Chairman

WASHINGTON, D.C.–The U.S. Senate voted by unanimous consent on December 22, 2022, to confirm Professor Sara C. Bronin of Connecticut as chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), following her nomination by President Joe Biden. Once sworn in, Bronin will lead the ACHP. The agency has operated under the oversight of its vice chairman, Jordan Tannenbaum, since June 2021.

WASHINGTON, D.C.The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in Washington, D.C has favorably reported the nomination of Professor Sara Bronin to become chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP). President Joe Biden nominated Bronin in June for the chairman position, and she testified before the Senate committee on September 21.

Congress Authorizes ACHP Full-Time Chairman and Reauthorizes Historic Preservation Fund

Washington, D.C. - On December 9, the National Park Service Centennial Act passed the Senate, the last piece of legislation from the 114th Congress. The bill had been passed by the House previously and contains amendments to the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) that the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) had been pursuing for several years.

Aimee Jorjani testified today before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in Washington, D.C. on her nomination to become the first full-time chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP).

Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), the committee’s ranking member, said the ACHP has an important mission, ensuring federal agencies are good stewards of the nation’s heritage, and will be served well by a full-time chairman.
