Long-Time ED John M. Fowler Announces Retirement
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Executive Director John M. Fowler has announced he will retire on January 2, 2021. Fowler has served as executive director since 1997 and has worked at the ACHP since 1972. He previously served as the ACHP’s general counsel and deputy executive director. In 2010, his service was recognized with a Presidential Distinguished Rank Award.

Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Chairman Aimee Jorjani recently signed an amendment to an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service and Colorado State Historic Preservation Office, which renews and expands a program that combats forest hazards in Colorado.
Washington, DC – The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation presented the Award for Federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation to the U.S. General Services Administration’s Section 111 Outleasing Program. This is one of nine awards presented by the National Trust during its 2020 Past Forward Online National Preservation Conference this week.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Chairman Aimee Jorjani today administered the oath of office to Luke A. Nichter, PhD, of Bowling Green, OH, swearing him in as an expert member to a term ending in June 2022. President Donald J. Trump appointed Nichter to the ACHP.
“The ACHP is honored President Trump appointed accomplished historian, author, and educator Luke Nichter to the ACHP,” Chairman Jorjani said. “Dr. Nichter has much to offer as an expert member. With his level of expertise in research and writing, we look forward to his perspective and counsel as we tackle historic preservation issues and tell the full stories that are vital to our country.”
