Program Comment on Certain Housing, Building, and Transportation Undertakings

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has issued a program comment for certain housing, building, and transportation undertakings available to any federal agency with an undertaking meeting its terms. The Program Comment covers activities that are either excluded from further review, as outlined in Appendix A, or that must meet certain conditions before utilizing streamlining provisions in Appendix B.

Department of the Army Program Comment for Inter-War Era Historic Housing, Associated Buildings and Structures, and Landscape Features (1919–1940)

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has issued a program comment for the U.S. Department of the Army that sets forth the way in which the Army complies with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for its inventory of Inter-War Era historic housing management actions, including: maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, renovation, abatement, mothballing, demolition, replacement construction, new construction, lease and conveyance.

Army NHPA Strategy - Programmatic NHPA Compliance Solutions for Army Historic Properties

Summary

The Department of the Army (Army) notified the ACHP that it had established a Strategic Agenda to improve the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) compliance process (NHPA Strategy) for Army historic properties in a letter from the Assistant Secretary of Army Installations, Energy and Environment dated July 26, 2019. Among the initiatives set forth in the NHPA Strategy was pursuing programmatic Army-wide NHPA compliance solutions with the ACHP for Army historic properties.
