Irish American Heritage Month was first celebrated in March in the U.S. in 1991 to recognize and celebrate the contributions Irish Americans have made to the United States. However, life was not always easy for Irish immigrants trying to make a life for themselves in America in the late 19th century.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announce the call for nominations for the 2020 ACHP/HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. This joint award honors an outstanding project that has advanced the goals of historic preservation while promoting affordable housing, community revitalization, and/or enhanced economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income families.

March is Women’s History Month, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is celebrating by honoring an important woman preservationist, Ann Pamela Cunningham, who led the effort to preserve the home of President George Washington.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to appoint Meridian, Idaho, Mayor Robert Eugene Simison as the Mayor Member on the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP). The White House made the announcement yesterday.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is now recruiting for the position of Program Analyst/Department of the Army Liaison (GG-13) within the ACHP’s Office of Federal Agency Programs (OFAP), Washington, D.C. While the initial appointment will be for a term of 13 months, the ACHP anticipates that this appointment may be extended for 3 to 5 years.
