Members of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation met October 26, 2022, for their fall business meeting. Topics they addressed included discussion of the challenges in building a historic preservation workforce and the efforts the ACHP is taking to address the issues; ACHP involvement in the White House Council on Native American Affairs; and updates to a policy statement on burial sites, human remains, and funerary objects; as well as a recently signed Memorandum of Agreement on Native Languages.

Members voted to support an exemption regarding the historic preservation review process for electric vehicle supply equipment and for the vice chairman to write a letter to the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management to encourage funding from the Inflation Reduction Act to go toward traditional trades hiring and training.

Members also debated the Army’s program comment for Vietnam War era housing and an amendment offered by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Both motions failed. The full proceedings of the business meeting are available to view on the ACHP’s YouTube channel.
