A part of the ACHP's mission includes encouraging public interest and participation in historic preservation and providing training and education in this field

The ACHP is aware that there are shortages of skilled candidates entering the fields of historic preservation and cultural resource management (CRM), particularly where needed to support the national historic preservation program.

The ACHP and its partners are working to address these challenges and want to strengthen their relationships with institutions of higher learning and others to encourage students to prepare themselves for careers in the federal preservation program.

Historic preservation and CRM are diverse fields with many career opportunities with federal, state, tribal, private, and local job opportunities. For those who are looking for ways to put their education and experience in archaeology; anthropology; architecture; history; urban, city, and regional planning; conservation; traditional trades; or other fields to good use, the ACHP urges them to consider a career in the federal historic preservation program.

The ACHP has put together a list of resources for those seeking to enter or build their careers in the fields encompassing historic preservation. While we will be adding more links, this is by no means a comprehensive list. There are many organizations, and agencies that have their own such lists.

Check back often as we will update periodically, but we urge you to explore on your own as well.
