ACHP Chairman Aimee Jorjani and ACHP Expert Member Robert Stanton today celebrated Black History Month at the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historical Site in Washington, DC. They chatted with Park Superintendent Tara Morrison about the importance of preserving historic sites that tell the story of great Americans like Dr. Woodson.
The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the Historic Hawai’i Foundation, and the Department of the Interior’s Office of Native Hawaiian Relations are offering a free community seminar on February 22, 2020, in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Native Hawaiian organizations’ (NHO) involvement in the national historic preservation program.
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act is a review process that offers NHOs the opportunity to advocate on their own behalf regarding the preservation of their traditional cultural places and recognizes that NHOs have expertise in the identification and evaluation of historic properties of religious and cultural significance to them.
Washington, D.C.—President Donald J. Trump today submitted his fiscal year 2021 budget request to Congress, seeking $7.4 million in funding for the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP).
“The President’s budget request is good news for the ACHP, supporting our mission of promoting the preservation, enhancement, and sustainable use of the nation’s diverse historic resources,” ACHP Chairman Aimee Jorjani said. “The funding will enhance our capabilities to work with agencies and stakeholders through an efficient and collaborative review process.”
