The ACHP is now recruiting for three permitting-related positions. These are full-time, temporary positions, with an initial 13-month term subject to further extension based on continuing funding. They are all remote work eligible.

These positions are funded by the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council), a federal agency charged with improving the transparency and predictability of the federal environmental review and authorization process for certain infrastructure projects. The Permitting Council coordinates federal environmental reviews and authorizations for projects that seek and obtain coverage under Title 41 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST-41). The Permitting Council is funding eight ACHP positions, with five of them already in the process of being filled. These eight positions will play an important role in enhancing federal permitting and helping fulfill the White House's infrastructure plans.

Permitting Program Analyst (Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs) -- Includes tracking, analyzing, and responding to federal legislation, regulations, policy, and guidance to assess and address impacts on the timeliness, predictability, transparency, and accountability of environmental reviews and permitting of federal projects, particularly review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106) for infrastructure projects covered by FAST-41.

Permitting Tribal Liaison (Office of Tribal and Indigenous Peoples) -- Includes advising on the rights and roles that Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, and other Indigenous Peoples have in historic preservation. A primary focus of this position includes advising the director of the Office of Tribal and Indigenous Peoples regarding policy and program issues, with a principal focus on infrastructure projects covered by FAST-41.

Permitting Attorney (Office of General Counsel) -- Includes performing detailed and complex legal research, preparing legal memoranda and advice, and communicating with ACHP staff and relevant stakeholders on matters related to the ACHP’s responsibilities under Section 106 regarding permitting undertakings, particularly infrastructure projects covered by FAST-41.
