Sam’s Valley Reinforcement Project (OR)
Case Details
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Medford District Office, is reviewing an permit application from Pacific Power (Pacificorp) to expand their existing Right of Way (ROW) on BLM land to construct, operate, and maintain a new 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line for the Sam’s Valley Reinforcement Project. Pacificorp is required to complete this project in order to upgrade out-dated lines and provide a secure means of electric service to southern Oregon. The new transmission line will be constructed as part of a double circuit with the existing 115 kV circuit line. This will require the construction of larger towers that will essentially be in the same place as the existing line. The project will also require the construction of a new substation on Pacificorp-owned property on the northeast side of Lower Table Rock.
