In 2012, the Programmatic Agreement Among the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration; U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Belvoir; County of Fairfax, VA; Commonwealth of Virginia Virginia Department of Transportation; Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment; Catawaba Indian Nation; National Trust on Historic Preservation; Advisory Council on Historic Preservation; and Virginia State Historic Preservation Officer Regarding Construction of Route 1 Improvements Project in Fairfax County, Virginia was executed. In accordance with Stipulation V(C), the Federal Highway Administration has proposed an amendment to the agreement to remove a requirement for the FHWA to evaluate archaeological site 44FX1810 for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places. Originally, site 44FX1810 was to be disturbed by the project; however, project engineers reduced the proposed limits of disturbance for the project and site 44FX1810 will remain preserved in its original forested/wetland condition and is not considered for future development.
