The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Little Rock and Tulsa Districts, are revisiting a 2005 study to evaluate the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System (MKARNS) for enhanced commercial navigation opportunities. The study area includes the entire MKARNS in Arkansas and Oklahoma including approximately 445 miles of river from the Mississippi River to the Port of Catoosa near Tulsa, Oklahoma. A series of 18 locks and dams,13 in Arkansas and five in Oklahoma, provide for commercial navigation throughout the length of the MKARNS.
