The Central Washington National Wildlife Refuge Complex (NWRC) proposes the establishment of a program alternative regarding the continued maintenance of fuel breaks within the Rattlesnake Unit of the Hanford Reach National Monument. In 2017 and 2018, Central Washington NWRC declared emergencies to complete the necessary maintenance activities on the fuel break due to high risk fire conditions. To avoid declaring such emeregencies in the future, Central Washington NWRC proposes the development of a Programmatic Agreement that will cover the annual maintenance for the fuel break.
