The United States Postal Service (USPS), through ICF, an outside consultant, propose to demolish the Ponce-Atocha Station. The property sustained heavy damage in a fire that occurred on February 24, 2018. The USPS prepared a National Register evaluation and determined that the building retained its eligibility for listing after the fire. The USPS determined that there is no viable alternative to demolition of the property, given the need to manage revenue.
