Closure and Transfer of Pueblo Chemical Depot (CO)

Case Details

Colorado
City
Pueblo County

The Department of the Army initially listed the Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD), Pueblo, CO, for closure and transfer out of federal ownership in accordance with the recommendations of the 1988 Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act (P.L. 100-526). In 1997 the Programmatic Agreement Among the Department of the Army, the Colorado State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation for the Utilization and Eventual Disposal of Above Ground Facilities at Pueblo Chemical Depot, Colorado was executed. However, the initial undertaking has changed and a portion of PCD is being retained as an active installation. The current plan for closure of PCD is to transfer a 16,000 acre parcel out of Department of the Army ownership.
