The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has proposed to the National Park Service (NPS) that WMATA remove a trolley trestle within the Glover Archbold Park section of Rock Creek Park. An assessment conducted in 2016 concluded that the trestle was in poor condition and in a state of deterioration that significantly affected its structural stability. In order to maintain the safety of park visitors and the sewer and storm water drain beneath the trestle, WMATA fenced off the structure in 2018. The removal may include the trestle's associated abutments.
