May is National Historic Preservation Month, and the ACHP has a busy month planned, including a photo contest. The contest can be accessed here. It asks people to share photos of themselves, their family, or friends at their favorite or most meaningful historic place using the hashtag #MyHistoricPlace on their own Instagram or Twitter or posting the picture on the ACHP Facebook page using the hashtag #MyHistoricPlace. The public can then vote for their favorite photos. Weekly prizes will be awarded to the top vote-getters.

In the same theme, the ACHP produced a series of videos in which several people in the historic preservation community were asked to talk about a meaningful historic place. These videos are being posted on the ACHP YouTube Channel and shared on social media. The first video features Expert Member Robert G. Stanton. Please subscribe to the ACHP's YouTube channel to be notified about new videos.

So far in May, the ACHP had two Facebook Live interviews. Communications and Public Affairs Specialist Lynne Richmond interviewed Mr. Stanton about the civil rights movement at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. Ms. Richmond also spoke with Dana R. Chandler, Archivist at Tuskegee University, about the rich history of the university and the many historic buildings and sites within it. More Facebook Live interviews are planned at historic sites around Washington, D.C. as the month continues.

Also this month, the General Services Administration is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and a series of social media posts are planned about the successful ACHP partnership with the agency. Also, an article by Expert Member Terry Guen about Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month will be featured.
