WASHINGTON, D.C.– The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) and the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) today honored the campaign to designate sites in Mississippi and Illinois as the Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument with the National Trust/Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Award for Federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation. The event took place during the NTHP’s annual PastForward Conference in New Orleans.

On October 22, the America Adapts podcast published a conversation featuring ACHP Chair Sara Bronin. In conversation with host Doug Parsons, Chair Bronin discusses the intersection of historic preservation and climate change, including ACHP’s efforts to streamline approvals for climate-resilient projects. Bronin offers insights into how communities can work together to preserve their past while adapting to the future.

The ACHP is recruiting a director for the Office of Communications, Education, and Outreach. (GG-15). The director identifies and carries out communications needs; strategizes directly with the ACHP executive director and generally with the ACHP members on meeting these needs; and informs appropriate entities of the ACHP’s policies, programs, actions, services, and activities. The director plans, executes, and evaluates the effectiveness of communication exchanges in furthering agency goals. The director oversees ACHP professional staff responsible for conducting all agency communications, education, and outreach activities.

The ACHP will host its next business meeting at 9 a.m. EST, Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The meeting will take place in the Kennedy Caucus Room (Room 325) of the Russell Senate Office Building, 2 Constitution Ave. NE, Washington, DC 20002. The meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be live streamed on Facebook, and the recording will be made available following the proceedings on the ACHP's YouTube Channel
