The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's podcast, Preservation Perspectives, focused on the effort to create Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools National Historical Park in this episode, featuring Robert Stanton, former ACHP Expert Member, National Park Service Director and current Vice President of the Rosenwald Park Campaign.

A law was recently passed to require the National Park Service to conduct a special resource study, the first significant step toward creating the first national park to honor a Jewish American. Some of Rosenwald's greatest accomplishments center on his philanthropy that helped thousands of African American students, scholars, artists, writers, and others in the early part of the 20th century.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announce the call for nominations for the 2021 ACHP/HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. This joint award honors an outstanding project that has advanced the goals of historic preservation while promoting affordable housing, community revitalization, and/or enhanced economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income families.

Submissions are due April 16, 2021.

WASHINGTON D.C. -- The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) today presented President Joe Biden with the sixth triennial report, In a Spirit of Stewardship: A Report on Federal Historic Property Management.  

The ACHP produced the report under Section 3(c) of Executive Order 13287, “Preserve America,” which requires agencies with real property management responsibilities to report every three years on progress in the identification, protection, and use of historic properties in federal ownership.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) today announced it is terminating consultation on the development of a Section 106 agreement with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in the Resolution Copper Project and Southeast Arizona Land Exchange, Tonto National Forest (TNF) in Arizona.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's podcast, Preservation Perspectives, focused on the African American history of Historic Natchez, Mississippi, in this episode, featuring Mimi Miller, Executive Director Emerita of Historic Natchez Foundation.

Miller talks about the slave trade in Natchez and the historic places associated with African American life in the town, including the Natchez National Cemetery, where many African Americans who fought in the Civil War were laid to rest. She also discusses the work being done to preserve these important places that tell the full story of our country.
