The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the ACHP Foundation have announced a new partnership, the 21st Century Leaders Fellowship. Applications are being accepted now for this new program, which provides early career preservation professionals with a comprehensive understanding of historic preservation policy formulation and implementation at the national level. A primary program goal is to promote diversity in the historic preservation leadership. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2022.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is now recruiting for the position of Executive Director, located in Washington, DC.

While the position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), applicants need not be in the SES currently. It is open to the public as well as other federal employees. The primary duties of the position are to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ACHP, supervise its professional staff, and provide support to the ACHP chairman and membership. Members of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation met June 29, 2022, for their summer business meeting. Topics they addressed included discussion of the development of Section 106 exemptions for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment and the Army's Vietnam War-era historic housing; ACHP plans to help with the shortage of qualified preservation professionals to fill federal jobs, including ideas for establishing core competencies in historic preservation at the college level and younger; as well as updates on new staff, climate change issues, Traditional Knowledge, and the ACHP's Policy Statement on Burial Sites, Human Remains, and Funerary Objects.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will host its next business meeting on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 1:30 p.m.– 4:30 p.m. EDT. Due to continuing COVID-related precautions, the meeting will take place using Zoom conferencing. There will be no in-person attendance and, due to technical limitations, only ACHP and ACHP members and staff will be able to watch live. However, a recording of the meeting will be posted on the ACHP website and the ACHP YouTube Channel when the proceedings conclude.
