Final Disposition of the Enchanted Valley Chalet Within Olympic National Park (WA)

Case Details

Washington
City
Jefferson County

Olympic National Park is developing a long term plan for the Enchanted Valley Chalet. Increased channel migration along the East Fork Quinault River, beginning around 2003, lead to the river moving within a few feet of the chalet in early 2014 and by spring of that year the river had undercut the building. In response, Olympic National Park temporarily relocated the Chalet 50-100 feet from the actively eroding river bank in 2014 until a long term plan could be developed. Olympic National Park is considering to set the building in place on a new foundation, dismantle and remove the building, or relocate the building to another location in the Enchanted Valley.
