WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump recently announced his intent to appoint Connecticut State Representative John H. Frey to be a member of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Chairman Aimee Jorjani today welcomed new Expert Member Rick Gonzalez, swearing him into a term ending in June 2023. President Donald J. Trump appointed Gonzalez to the ACHP.

“We look forward to utilizing Rick’s expertise as the ACHP enhances opportunities for minority architects and incorporates a preservation ethic for those in the architecture and building fields,” Chairman Jorjani said. “Rick has a lot to contribute to the national historic preservation conversation, through his many efforts within Florida and the local preservation community. We have already enlisted his help in the Traditional Trades Training Task Force we recently launched.”

Episode 2 of the ACHP Podcast, "Preservation Perspectives," features an interview with Mr. Robert Stanton, ACHP Expert Member and former National Park Service Director about the holiday Juneteenth. The holiday commemorates the day when a Union general informs the enslaved people of Texas that the Civil War was over and that they are free. This episode examines what has happened since then and how historic preservation can serve to preserve the past while looking to a future that includes freedom, justice, and equality for all.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation presents its new podcast, Preservation Perspectives, a historic preservation interview program with the people of the historic preservation community discussing the issues of the day. This episode, hosted by ACHP Chairman Aimee Jorjani, features Steve Turner, the Colorado State Historic Preservation Officer, who talks about bouncing back from damage sustained to their history center in Denver during George Floyd protests and the lengthy shutdown due to COVID 19. He also talks about the many great things going on in historic preservation in Colorado.

The ACHP is recruiting for the position of Program Analyst/General Services Administration Liaison (GG-13) within the ACHP’s Office of Federal Agency Programs, Washington, DC. While the initial appointment will be for a term of 12 months, the ACHP has more than a decade-long partnership with GSA and expects the position to continue well beyond 12 months. The liaison position provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with ACHP and GSA staff and other stakeholders to facilitate ACHP review and resolution of priority Section 106 issues as identified by GSA and the ACHP. The closing date is June 25, 2020. Read more and apply here.
