As the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation commemorates Black History Month 2023, Expert Member Luke Nichter, host of Preservation Perspectives, the ACHP podcast, spoke with  Lawson Nwakudo, a park ranger at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park in Church Creek, MD. They discussed that Harriet Tubman, one of the most successful Underground Railroad "conductors" who helped many enslaved people escape to freedom before and during the Civil War, was an American hero. People visiting the park can learn more her life and about the land surrounding the park where she grew up. The park has many programs, both online and in-person, to ensure all who want to can participate.
