The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has approved an exemption that would relieve federal agencies from the requirement of taking into account the effects of their undertakings on the Interstate Highway System, except with regard to certain individual elements or structures that are part of the system.

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has approved an exemption that would relieve federal agencies from the requirement of taking into account the effects of their undertakings on the Interstate Highway System, except with regard to certain individual elements or structures that are part of the system. The proposed exemption was published in the Federal Register on December 29, 2004, with a 30 day period for public comment. Minor revisions were made in response to these comments.
