Historic sites come in all different sizes, from huge attractions like George Washington’s Mount Vernon to smaller museums like the Harriet Beecher Stowe house in Cincinnati, Ohio. They share a common thread–volunteers are the core of each operation, from large to small.

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park in Texas is no exception. The park tells the story of Mission San Jose, consisting of four Spanish colonial missions and their associated features, which were established more than 300 years ago. The park interprets the story of Spanish colonization in that area and its impact on the indigenous communities living on the land.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Chair Sara C. Bronin has convened an Experts Advisory Committee to provide the ACHP with academic and legal perspectives that will enhance the ACHP’s understanding of research impacting preservation, development of a historic preservation research agenda, and contribution to data-driven policy solutions.

WASHINGTON, DC – Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Chair Sara C. Bronin today administered the oath of office to three new ACHP members: General Public Member Carmen A. Jordan-Cox, Expert Member Monica Rhodes, and Mayor Member Randall L. Woodfin. President Joe Biden appointed Jordan-Cox and Rhodes to terms ending June 2026 and Woodfin to a term ending June 2025.

In March 2023, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) members approved a critical update to its 2007 policy statement on burial sites, human remains, and funerary objects.
