Saratoga National Historical Park is not only an exciting and educational experience for visitors but also a significant site to American history. During the Revolutionary War in 1777, American and British troops battled in Saratoga, New York, and the Continental Army came out victorious. The American victory at Saratoga marked the first time in world history that a British Army had surrendered and would go on to change the course of history around the world. The victory gained support for the Revolutionary Army from foreign powers and even led to other international battles. 

On March 1, 2023, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) voted unanimously to adopt its new Policy Statement on Burial Sites, Human Remains, and Funerary Objects. The policy statement establishes a set of standards and guidelines that federal and state agencies, contractors, and other relevant entities should, at a minimum, seek to implement in order to provide burial sites, human remains, and funerary objects the considerat

Washington, D.C. – Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) members today adopted a Climate Change and Historic Preservation Policy Statement. The policy was developed to acknowledge the important connections between climate change and historic properties and urge federal and nonfederal stakeholders to take steps to address these impacts at all levels of planning.                                

WASHINGTON, D.C. – ACHP Chair Sara Bronin today announced that the White House has appointed the Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) as a member of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP). 

“Historic preservation can improve our climate change response, reduce waste, and foster transportation-efficient communities,” Chair Bronin said. “At the same time, preservation can help us achieve our environmental justice goals, as we protect and adapt places underrepresented people hold dear. The ACHP welcomes the deeper engagement and partnership with the Council on Environmental Quality on these issues, now that it has become a member.”
