    Standard treatments establish practices for dealing with certain categories of undertakings, effects, historic properties, or treatment options that have been fully vetted and studied by the ACHP and Section 106 users and that carry the ACHP’s explicit endorsement. This guidance applies to standard treatments issued by the ACHP as a federal agency program alternative under § 800.14(d).

    A panel of ACHP members issued recommendations in September 2021 identifying actions the ACHP can take to improve the use of Program Comments as a tool for Section 106 review efficiency.
  10. Exempted Category
    The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has approved an exemption that relieves the General Services Administration from historic preservation review requirements under the National Historic Preservation Act for specified routine operations and maintenance. The exemption was approved on January 13, 2023, and was published in the Federal Register on January 23, 2023.
