The ACHP is now recruiting for the position of Assistant Director for Federal Property Management (GG-14) in its Office of Federal Agency Programs (OFAP) in Washington, DC.
OFAP participates in Section 106 reviews, provides technical assistance, training, and guidance for Section 106 users, and works to improve federal agency programs as they relate to historic properties. Among its other duties, OFAP is responsible for developing a Report to the President under Executive Order 13287 on the state of federal stewardship and interacting directly with federal agencies, State and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers, Indian tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations, industry and the public on historic preservation issues across the country.
The Assistant Director for Federal Property Management has direct line authority over eight professional staff positions responsible for consulting with federal agencies to improve their historic preservation programs and to ensure that diverse stakeholders fully participate in the review of federal undertakings under Section 106 of the NHPA. In addition, the Assistant Director ensures that policy, program, and compliance issues relating to federal property management are identified and addressed in a manner that allows agencies to meet the broad goals established for them under the National Historic Preservation Act.
